Experience one of the most scenic and less-crowded routes to Africa’s highest peak with this 9-day Lemosho Route trek. Known for its beautiful vistas, diverse ecosystems, and excellent success rate due to gradual acclimatization, the Lemosho Route offers the best chance of reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m) comfortably and safely. From dense rainforest to the vast Shira Plateau and the mighty Barranco Wall, this route is a true adventure for nature lovers and serious trekkers alike.
Arrive in Moshi for a pre-climb briefing and equipment check. Meet your mountain team, relax at the hotel, and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Drive to Lemosho Gate and begin the trek through lush rainforest. The 3–4 hour hike leads to Mti Mkubwa Camp, where you’ll have dinner and overnight stay.
Continue hiking gradually through moorland terrain, emerging onto the scenic Shira Plateau. After 6–7 hours, reach Shira 1 Camp for dinner and rest.
Today is a shorter and easier walk to Shira 2 Camp, giving your body time to acclimatize. Enjoy breathtaking views of Kibo Peak along the way.
Climb to Lava Tower for high-altitude exposure, then descend to Barranco Camp for the night. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy boosts acclimatization.
Trek up the iconic Barranco Wall, then continue along ridges and valleys to Karanga Camp. A relatively short day that helps you adjust further.
Ascend steadily to Barafu Camp, the final base before your summit attempt. Rest, hydrate, and prepare mentally and physically for the big climb ahead.
Start your summit attempt at midnight, reaching Stella Point and then Uhuru Peak for sunrise. Celebrate at the summit before descending to Mweka Camp for your final overnight on the mountain.
Complete your descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificates. Return to Moshi for a hot shower, celebration, and overnight stay or transfer to the airport.
Reserve your ideal trip early for a hassle-free trip; secure comfort and convenience!
